Obituary of Shirley L Lewis
Shirley L. Lewis, 89 years of age, of Portland, PA, passed away on December 11, 2021 at Country Meadows, Bethlehem, PA. She was born in Columbia, NJ on March 4, 1932 to the late Walter and Edith (Brands) De Puy. She was the owner/operator of the Golden Room, beauty salon in Portland, PA. She was a founding member of the Eastern Star Chapter 107, where she served as Matron of the Starlight for over 60 years. She was also a member of the International Lady’s Garment Workers Union.
She was a member at the Knowlton United Methodist Church for 89 years. Shirley enjoyed working at the Knowlton Thrift Store with her late husband Charles, she loved all the church members like they were her own family. She loved to ski, golf, garden, travel, and vacation with her great grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons Rick, William, and Kenny Golden, two daughters Jean De Franco, husband Dominic & Cheryl Golden, her significant other Charles. 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, her special niece and nephew, Jim and Sharon Willever as well as many nieces and nephews. Special granddaughter Sheila Altif, and great granddaughters Michelle, Alessa, Abbey and Amryn Lewis and Annie Flint that hold a special place in Mimi’s heart.
She was predeceased by her loving siblings Rita, Bud, and Lee De Puy along with her late loving husband Charles F. Lewis in 2016.
A period of visitation 10-11AM, Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825 with a funeral service at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Portland, PA.
