Obituary of William Patrick Grasing

William P Grasing, 64, of Oxford, NJ, formerly of Branchburg Township, died peacefully August 15th, 2012, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 17, 1948 in Bayonne, NJ, to the late William L and Anne (Larkin) Grasing. Bill attended and graduated from Cranford High School, Class of 1967, in Cranford, NJ. He continued his education at Union County College before enlisting in and serving honorably in the United States Navy for four years. Bill served proudly on board the USS Franklin D Roosevelt (CV-42) Aircraft Carrier, during the Vietnam era. Following his naval service, Bill worked a number of years in general construction as a member of the Laborers International Union of North America before transitioning into a career as a commercial truck driver. He retired from driving in 2006 following a debilitating traffic accident. Bill's greatest joy in life was from spending time with his family, especially time spent with his grandchildren, whom he adored. He also enjoyed reading, military history, politics and the occasional cigar. Bill was exceedingly generous, honest, and committed to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two dear canine friends, Spike and Sandy. Bill leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife of over thirty years, Johanna J(Toth) Grasing, three sons, Lawrence L Pascale of Grayslake, IL, Robert T Pascale and his wife, Elizabeth of Blairstown, NJ,and Daniel R Pascale of Grayslake, IL, five grandchildren, Robert, Hailey, Alexis, Jackson and Eden, three sisters, Carole Grasing of South Burlington, VT, Teresa Grasing and Anne Marie Resnik and her husband, Martin, all of Shelburne, VT, brothers and sisters in law, Louis and Judy Toth of Egg Harbor, NJ, and Richard and Karen Toth of Hampton, NJ. He also leaves behind seven nieces and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, from 1-3PM at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Rt 94, Blairstown, NJ, with a Memorial Service following at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be appreciated, in memory of William P Grasing, to the Kessler Foundation, 300 Executive Drive, Suite 70, West Orange, NJ 07052.
