Phyllis Delighte Neville (nee Hicks), an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the age of 96 years young. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Gilbert Lawrence in 2012. Phyllis was born in Cicero, Illinois on March 29, 1925 to Leonard B and Leona May Hicks (nee Williams), originally from Muncton, New Brunswick, Canada. She grew up in Roselle Park, NJ and lived most of her life divided between Kenilworth, NJ and Hainesburg, NJ. After high school graduation, Phyllis attended nurses's training and served as a nurse cadet RN during World War II. Then, on her 21st birthday she received gifts from 3 suitors - one gave her a dozen roses, another gave her a string of pearls, and the third, Gill, gifted her with an engagement ring and they lived happily together from their wedding on June 11, 1947 until his death in 2012. Phyllis was a bundle of energy and fun, had a lot of spunk, and always had a kind word to say to everyone. She was known not only to her immediate family, but to countless others as well, as mom, nana, and super nana. Together with her husband, she built and ran a construction company for 60 years and enjoyed retirement divided between Florida and their farmhouse in Hainesburg. Anyone stopping in at her home would find peanut M&Ms on the counter and drinks in the fridge. She and her husband were lifelong, avid golfers and unofficial golf directors (amongst their many friends) of Delaware Water Gap Country Club, Shawnee, and the winter courses in Florida. Family events were often scheduled around golf tournaments and the annual spring family holiday, called M'Easter, is held on Masters Tournament Sunday. She is survived by her daughter Lynda Neville Moscatello (Martin) and son Kenneth Edward Neville (Dawn), daughter-in-law Karen Neville Wilcox (Paul), seven grandchildren, Jason Vourtsis (Heather), Dan Neville (Shannon), Erin Stephens, and Natasha, Samantha, Eric, and Tom Neville and four great grandchildren, Kylie, Adelay, Mitchell, and Geoffrey. She was also predeceased by two children, Gilbert Lawrence Neville Jr. (Larry) and Patricia Ann Neville Henry, and two grandchildren, Christopher Neville and Kenneth Neville II. Phyllis will be forever missed and remembered with love, appreciation and respect for the abundant love she shared with so many.
