Rose Caulfield

Obituary of Rose E. Caulfield

Rose Elizabeth Caulfield, a twenty-seven-year resident of Vienna, NJ, passed away in Hackettstown Hospital on Saturday, July 31st, after a long illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Adam and Gertrude Dietz, it's where she met and married the love of her life, John Caulfield, who pre-deceased her in 1977. In 1969 they moved to New Jersey and became a team of farmers on a small hobby farm before taking the big leap to a Minnesota dairy farm. Rose loved living close to the land with gardening and raising animals. After the loss of her husband, she moved back to New Jersey and became a working mother. After retiring from often grueling jobs, she enjoyed going to Tricky-Trays and playing bingo with friends. She spent much time crocheting and creating ceramics as well as other crafts. Though she struggled with illness in recent years, her caregivers always commented on her sweet smile and happy disposition. She is survived by her sister Margaret Flood of Long Island and brother Billy Dietz of Brooklyn. She will be missed by her four children Donna Van Stone of Branchville, John A. Caulfield of Mount Bethel, Daniel F. Caulfield of Blairstown, and Dorothy Kott of Blairstown. Grandmother to Raymond, Joseph, Chelsey, Johnny, Lindsey, and Great Grandmother to Raymond Jr., Johnathan, and Sarah Rose. A private graveside ceremony for the family will be held at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater, NJ, where she will be intered beside her beloved John. Arrangements are under the direction of Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825.
