Kiel Tillman

Obituary of Kiel Thomas Tillman

Kiel Thomas Tillman, 35, of Blairstown, NJ passed away suddenly at his home the evening of February 16, 2021. He is loved and remembered by his parents Tom and Sandi Tillman of Hardwick, NJ, sister Rebecca (Tillman) Zelanko and husband John of Fayetteville, NC, brother Kevin Tillman and wife Chelsea of Hardwick, NJ, grandmother Carolyn Van Der Wiele of Knowlton, NJ, three nieces, Kadie, Kelly and Fallon, and many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Kiel was known and loved by so many. He was a man of few words, but chose to show his love and devotion to family and friends through his actions. His quiet acts of kindness are a true testament to who he was as a person. Whether that be showing up in the middle of the night to start a generator, lending a helping hand to get a job done, or showing up in the middle of a snow storm, shovel in hand, he would be there. Kiel was the type of person that you could call on, no matter the circumstance. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, sometimes to a fault. If he considered you a friend, that meant that you were family too. He had a heart of gold and an infectious laugh that could brighten any room. Kiel was kind, compassionate and sensitive, despite his tough appearance to those who did not truly know him. He cared deeply for his parents, and was a rock in hard times, always quick with a joke and a laugh to brighten spirits. Children held a special place in his heart, and if he saw a child in need, he would and a way to provide and fill that need. His quiet support, such as providing Christmas and birthday gifts, school supplies, clothing, and even 4-wheelers and go carts, was never something that he wanted recognition or payment for. The sheer joy on children's faces was all the payment he could need. We are all better for having known Kiel, and he leaves a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint. -Isaiah 40:31 A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stillwater Fire House at 929 Stillwater Road, Newton, NJ 07875 on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM.
