Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David E. Betts, 67 years of age, passed away at his home in Hampton Township, NJ on February 3, 2021. He was born on March 23, 1953 in Easton, PA, the second son of Virginia (Huttick) Shay and Robert E. Betts. He spent most of his youth in Marksboro, NJ where many happy memories of family, friends and his grandparents farm in Johnsonburg, NJ were made. In his teens the family moved to Green Hill Estates in Newton and he attended and graduated from Blair Academy. During that period he developed his love for cars. Dave then attended Wilkes University in Wilksebury, PA. However, the Vietnam War was ongoing, the student deferment was discontinued and his number was called. Fortunately for him the draft was called off just in time but not for his return to school that year. He then took a job at the Printing Center in Newton where he started his trade. He married and had two of the best sons one could have asked for, Michael and Christopher. He remarried a few years later to Sandra Harrison. Dave ran a shop in Fairfield then started his own printing business in Blairstown. After running Betts Printing, Inc. for 26 years he decided to retire. David was a devoted father, husband and friend. Always willing to help those around him, make you mad or make you laugh, whatever was needed at the time. Dave's mid-life crisis was known to all as "Thunder", a shiny red AC Cobra 427SC convertible. He was an active member in several clubs and organizations, enjoying teaching and learning from others and taking on challenges. Being an avid gardener he became a Master Gardener. He is survived by Sandra, his wife of 36 years; son, Michael Betts and his two daughters, Mia and Misha of Boston, MA; son Christopher Betts and wife Deidre Hazen -Betts and their son, Gryffin of Hardwick, NJ. Brother Robert Betts of Florida; sister Cheryl Rennick of Sebastapol, CA; sister Janice Berry of PA. Two step-sisters, Janet Block and Anne Drake and a step-brother Dan Muchmore. There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825
