Dorothy Winters

Obituary of Dorothy J. Winters

Dorothy Winters passed away on her 94th birthday, November 21, at Clover Rest Home, surrounded by the people who gave her the best care anyone could ask for. Dorothy, or Dot, as she was more commonly known, is predeceased by her parents, Merle and Bessie Kice and William Fenner; three sisters, Edith Bartone, Hazel Billow and Mary Vass: her husbands George Lambert, Kenneth Smith (my father), and Earl Winters, Sr. In her early years mom worked in blouse mills, took time off to raise me, and then landed the perfect job for her, "Chief Cook and Bottlewasher", at North Warren Regional High School where she worked for 34 years. And boy, could she make that kitchen hum. I don't think she ever served a bad meal. She is survived by her loving daughter, me, Debbie Mowrey, her loving son-in-law Lewis Mowrey, and numerous loved nieces and nephews. Final arrangements are being handled by Newbaker Funeral Home. She will be cremated and her ashes spread at the house that she and my dad built, with the help of Fred VanScoten and Dorance Hillyerd, and where Lew and I continue to live. We love you mom and our hearts will ache forever.
