Obituary of Teresa Marie Pflugh
Teresa Marie Pflugh left this world on Saturday, October 10, 2020 surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The matriarch and center of the Pflugh family, she was born on September 7, 1928 in Hoboken, NJ to Marguerite Elizabeth Gautier and Edward Maurice Stack. She was the second of five Stack children, Morris, Midge, Bill and Mary. Teresa knew her husband, John "Jack" Pflugh most of her life. Jack was close friends with her older brother, Morris. They also attended the same church, but it wasn't until Jack returned from World War II and enrolled as an engineering student at Steven's Institute of Technology, that they connected at the Parker House in Spring Lake, while on summer vacation. She married Jack on December 21, 1950 at the age of 22 and had a long-devoted marriage as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In 1956, the family moved to Sparta, where they brought up their seven children, Archie, John, Peggy, Ed, Bill, Mary and Tommy. Teresa and Jack also enjoyed socializing at the Lake Mohawk Golf Club and Country Club, with couples whose friendships lasted a lifetime. Pflugh family gatherings were frequent and always centered around the holidays inviting all her neighbors to join in with the family traditions. After 27 years living in Sparta, Teresa and Jack moved to Hardwick, NJ in 1983. The tradition of large family gatherings continued through the end of her life. Teresa was also active in her community, becoming a member of the Hardwick Board of Adjustment for many years. She dedicated herself to protecting property rights, while ensuring the pastoral environs of Hardwick Township endured. Her community involvement also included her service to St. Jude's Catholic Church as a Eucharist Minister, a position as a devote Catholic she cherished. Teresa is predeceased by her husband of nearly 40 years, John Kenneth Pflugh, her daughter, Mary Teresa Pflugh-Yanvary and her son, Thomas Joseph Pflugh, and her siblings, Maurice Stack, Margaret Coolahan and William Stack. She is also survived by her sons, Archibald, John, Edward and William and their spouses, Geraldene, Anita, Kerry and Luis; her daughter, Marguerite Pflugh Van Beek and her husband, Hendrik Paul; her grandchildren, Alexandra, and her husband, Eric Usinowicz, Victoria Van Beek, Jason Pflugh and his wife, Dianna, and Erich Pflugh and Zachary Pflugh; her great-grandchildren, Schuyler and Emmett Usinowicz, and Addison and Aiden Pflugh. She is also survived by her dear sister, Mary Gaspar, and over 40 loving nieces and nephews. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in her name on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, Blairstown, NJ for her immediate family. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Teresa's name to the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
