Obituary of Anna Handy

Anna L. Handy, 86, of Blairstown, passed away on February 28, 2020. She was born in Queens, New York to Anthony and Marion Vacarr. Anna was the beloved mother of Alfred (Sheila) and Loretta; adored grandmother of James Handy, Jennifer (Gross) Horsey, Michelle Handy-Fitzgerald, and Robert Gross Jr.; and cherished great-grandmother of Derek and Sadie Horsey. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alfred Handy; older brother, Michael Vacarr; and younger brother, Anthony Vacarr. Anna worked as Executive Assistant, most notably for the president of the Sedco Systems branch of The Raytheon Company during the development of the B-1 bomber. She enjoyed being a member of the North Warren Knit Wits, American Sewing Guild, Frelinghuysen Seniors, Knowlton Senior Organization, and North Warren Seniors Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 5 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m. at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, New Jersey. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of St. Jude, 7 Eisenhower Road, Blairstown, New Jersey (use Columbia for GPS) followed by interment at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, 117 Route 94, Blairstown, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or The Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, DC 20077.The family wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Blairstown Police Department, Blairstown Ambulance Corps, St. Clare's Medics, Atlantic Air 1, and Atlantic Hospital Systems for their outstanding professionalism and compassion.
