Obituary of Lawrence Mascera, Jr.
Lawrence "Larry" Mascera Jr., age 77 of Palmer, PA passed away peacefully on October 4th, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Glen Ridge, NJ to the late Lawrence Mascera Sr. and Antoinette Piombino. He earned both his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and Master's degree in Management Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. Larry was very well respected as the General Plant Manager of Hoffman La Roche in Belvidere, NJ and then as the President of the Hoffman La Roche plant in Puerto Rico.
He resided in Hope, NJ for 45 years of his life serving on the planning and zoning boards of the township as well as on the board of directors at First Hope Bank. He enjoyed spending peaceful moments on the water, fishing with his family and friends. He was also an avid hunter who enjoyed the tranquility and serenity of the woods. As an enthusiast of guns since an early age, he was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a long time member of the Pocono Slate Belt Trap Club of Bangor, PA. Larry loved having in depth discussions on a multitude of topics with anyone that would sit with him and was always available to others for advice, leadership and guidance. Larry was a loving father, a devoted husband, and an honorable friend. He will always be loved and will forever be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Mascera of 51 years; brother George Mascera; three sons and daughter-in-laws: Michael & Kristin Mascera, Matthew & Jodi Mascera, and Lawrence & Kris Mascera; 5 nieces & nephews and 7 grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be open to all family and friends and will be held at Newbaker Funeral Home located at 200 Rt. 94 Blairstown, NJ 07825 on Friday October 11th from 2-4pm and again at 7-9pm. Funeral and burial services with last respects will begin at Newbaker Funeral Home on Saturday October 12th at 10am followed by a procession to the Hope Cemetery for burial services at 11am.
