Obituary of Harry C Bauder

Type Obit Harry C. Bauder, Jr of Blairstown, Nj passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Newton Medical Center, Newton, NJ. Harry was born in Newark, NJ on August 20, 1924 to the late Henry Charles Bauder, Sr. of Newark, NJ and the late Alma Donnellon of Springfield, Ma. He was also predeceased by his younger brother, John Bauder in 2001. Harry grew up in Newark and attended Our Lady of Good Counsel and Newark Public Schools. As a young man, Harry was active in the Boy Scouts and received the Eagle Scout award and became a Boy Scout leader in Newark, NJ. He enlisted in the Army and was a radio operator in Europe during World War II. He was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal and remained a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of St. Judes Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. After the war he received a Bachelors Degree from Seton Hall University. Harry worked for the Essex County Probation Department as a probation officer for thirty one years. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy C. Dunn whom he married on February 12, 1957. They raised their family in West Orange, NJ and moved to Blairstown when Harry retired in 1985. He is survived by two sons, Robert A. Bauder and his wife, Terry of Hazleton, Pa and Stephen Henry Bauder and his wife Carol of Blairstown, NJ. Seven grandchildren, Daniel Patrick Bauder of Philadelphia, Pa, Michael William Bauder and his wife Ann. Of Glenside, Pa, Stephen Joseph Bauder, Robert Timothy Bauder and Matthew Dunn Bauder all of Hazleton, Pa, Katherine Elizabeth Happe and her husband Dale of Columbia, NJ and Christina Rose Bauder of Blairstown, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 20 at St. Judes Roman Catholic Church, Blairstown, NJ. Visitation will be Monday 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ Donations may be made in Harry's name to Saint John's Soup Kitchen, 22 Mulberry St., P.O.
