Obituary of Walter DePuy, Jr.

Walter (Lee) DePuy, Jr., beloved husband, father and brother, age 77, of Fayetteville, PA went home to be with his Lord on May 21, 2018 after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Walter DePuy, Sr. and Edith (Brands) born on August, 19, 1940 in Columbia, New Jersey. Lee was a 1958 graduate of Belvidere High School and worked for Bell Atlantic Telephone Company as a central office technician for 28 years retiring in 1991. He then worked for Blairstown Township in New Jersey. He was a member of the BellTel Retirees Organization, the Telephone Pioneers of America, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Lee was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the George Washington Lodge #143 F&AM; Franklin County High Twelve Club #726 of which he was past president; Blairstown NJ Lodge #165 F&AM; and Scottish Rite Consistory Allentown, NMJ. He was Warder of Continental Commandery #56; in 2012 he was Most Excellent High Priest for George Washington Royal Arch Chapter #176; and in 2017 he was the Sovereign Master of Benjamin Franklin Council #404.

Lee was an IC2 onboard the USS Kitty Hawk from 1958 to 1962 and was a plank owner. He was a member of the Burt J. Asper Post #46 American Legion, USS Kitty Hawk Veterans Association, and the VFW Charles Nitterhouse Post #1599 in Chambersburg, PA.

Interested in genealogy, Lee was a member of The General Society of the War of 1812, SAR Empire State Society, NJSSAR, and the Brodhead/DePuy Family Association. He was instrumental in the grave rededication of his ancestor Moses DePuy, in Ulster County, NY who was a 2nd Lieut in the NY Militia, Revolutionary War.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandra DePuy of Fayetteville, PA, daughter Jacqueline Banahan (Bill), sister Shirley Lewis, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant son Michael Allen, brother Alan DePuy, and sister Rita Willever.

Visitation will be held, 6-8 PM June 1, 2018 at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ, 07825. Funeral services begin at 11:30 AM, Saturday, June 2, 2018 also at Newbaker Funeral Home with internment at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Blairstown, NJ 07825. A Memorial Service will also be held on June 23, 2018 at St. Paul United Methodist Church where Lee was a member, 750 Norland Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
