Philip Benjamin Pelligra, Sr., 83 years of age, a resident of Mt. Bethel, PA and a respected employee of Newbaker Funeral Home, passed away suddenly on the afternoon of 3/14/21 in Pennsylvania. He was born on June 20, 1937 in Paterson, NJ to the late John & Mildred (Schiavone) Pelligra. He had a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice and retired as a N J State Trooper lieutenant. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Kraser) Pelligra, two sons, Philip B. Pelligra, Jr and Steven M. Pelligra, a sister Lorraine Cannarella, brother John Pelligra, Kathy's children Jennifer Arp and Ted Samuelsen, Jr, grandchildren, Nicholas, Hunter, Chenoa, Kahlia Pelligra, great grandchildren, Hastiin Pelligra and Wylder Wallace. Phil was a dedicated NJ State Trooper for 32 years and retired as a lieutenant. He had a passion for the outdoors and fished and hunted up until his passing. He loved camping with Kathy and their friends. He was a generous man who wanted to help friends and family anyway he could. He was a member of Grace Community Church, Hope, NJ. A memorial service will be held at a later date due to Covid restrictions. Arrangements are under the direction of Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825. A celebration of life will be held 10:00 AM June 19, 2021 at Grace Community Church1250 Route 519, Hope, NJ, with rain date 10 :00 AM June 26, 2021. Please bring chairs.
