JOHN ANTHONY ROTIO, 65, of Hope, NJ, passed away on March 12, 2020 in Morristown, NJ, surrounded by his family. He was born in Paterson, NJ on December 29, 1954 to Anthony and Dorothy (Kirwan) Rotio. He was raised in Paterson and later moved to Hope, NJ where he raised a family and discovered a passion for hunting and the outdoors. Following in his father's footsteps as a carpenter, John owned and operated Rotio Construction in Hope with his brother. In 1984 he was named Fireman of the Year by the Hope Volunteer Fire Department. John loved the holiday season, and embodied the Christmas spirit, annually dressing up as Santa for the children in the family. He was a proud American, a deep thinker, and a passionate debater. He was a selfless man, who always said that his children were his greatest accomplishment. John is survived by his loving family: daughter Angela (Rotio) Hitt and husband Chris Hitt of Hope, NJ; son Anthony Rotio and wife Katherine (Egan) Rotio of Bloomfield, NJ; son John Rotio and wife Tiffany (Berger) Rotio of Oyster Bay, NY; grandchildren Vera, Caroline, Logan, Juliana and Laila; sisters Joan King, Helen LaMarta, and Dorothy Rotio; brother Anthony Rotio; and partner Natalie White. He was predeceased by sister Mary Anne Rotio and both of his parents. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 16 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m., also at Newbaker Funeral Home, followed by interment at Moravian Cemetery in Hope, 354 High St, Hope, NJ.
