Leon J. Fortin, 83 years of age, a resident of White Township, passed away at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, Fredon, NJ on March 2, 2019. He was born in Seekonk, MA, on December 31, 1935 to Frederick and Rhea (Dupuis) Fortin. He was a retired plumber for Union Local # 24, Fairfield, NJ and later was a plumbing inspector for Warren County Health Dept in Phillipsburg, Pohatcong and Alpha, Warren County, NJ. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1957.
He is survived by his wife ,Mary Lou, five sons, Mark and wife Lois, Keith and wife Cindy Kevin and wife Donna, Christopher and wife Georgianna, Carl and wife Meredith; 6 grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Dylan, Rebecca, Victoria, Tyler, 2 great grandchildren, Ava, Hannah, two sisters, Claire Cinq Mars and Yvonne Wordell. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick and Roland.
Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, Monday, March 11, 2019 at St. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Great Meadows, NJ. Interment to follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery, Hope, NJ.
