Avid outdoorsman, prominent attorney and legendary storyteller, William J. Vosper, Jr., passed away on October 31, 2017 at his home on Buckhill Farm in Hardwick, NJ.
He was 72.
Vosper was respected as an exceptional trial lawyer in many states in the country. He tried cases at the New Jersey Supreme Court which have been recorded in the legal archives and which resulted in the passing of new legislation.
He was born in New York City on February 6, 1945 to the late William J. Sr and Marjorie ((Gerathy) Vosper. He studied at Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law and specialized in Maritime Law at the University of Miami School of Law before moving his practice to New Jersey in
1976. He served as attorney for the Stillwater Planning Board for many years and is a member of the New Jersey Association for Justice.
Bill is survived by his wife Sharon (Ryker), a daughter, Jessica Vosper, and son Ira Vosper and his wife Andrea, two grandchildren, Cael & Ariel Vosper, two sisters Michelle Vosper and husband Dr. Leslie Lo, Ann Vosper and husband Michael Scanio, and two cousins, Dr. A.J. "Bud" Gerathy, Jr. and B. Patricia Moran.
A visitation will take place from 4-8 PM, Monday, November 6, 2017 at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ 07825 with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at
St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 7 Eisenhower Road, Blairstown, NJ. Interment will follow at the Stillwater Cemetery, Stillwater Road, Stillwater, NJ.
