Michael "Mike" J. O'Shea , 76, of Blairstown, NJ, died peacefully at his home on Friday May 12th surrounded by his loving family. Born in Jersey City, NJ to the late John and Anna O'Shea, Mike graduated from Snyder High school in Jersey City. He later graduated from Tool and Die Trade school from Western Electric Corp in S. Kearny, NJ.. Mike enlisted and was in the US Army and reserves at Fort Dix and Fort Knox. He worked at Western Electric for 8 years. He then went on to work as a plant manager for Rotor Clip Company, AK Stamping and Waldes Truarc before being hired as VP of Schneider & Marquard Inc. in Fredon, NJ. In 2002, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning his own business when he bought Schneider & Marquard and later A & L Plastics of Fredon.
While working at Westren Electric, Mike met his love of his life and wife of nearly 50 years, Judith "Judy" Hirschmann of Kearny They were married in August of 1967 and moved to Edison , NJ. where they lived for 32 years. They also lived in Ledgewood, NJ before residing the last 10 years in Blairstown. NJ.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife,Judy, and their four children.Michele Sheaffer and husband Art, Lisa Swencak and husband Dan, Christine Lamparelli and husband Jay all of Doylestown, PA and his son Michael P. and wife Tanya of Stillwater, NJ. He was a loving grandfather"Poppy" to their nine grandchildren. Kevin and Kyle Sheaffer, Karly, Tyler, and Brady Swencak, Samantha and Nicole Lamparelli, and Macy & Shelby O'Shea. Mike was predeceased by his sister, Veronica Ricco and his brother, John O'Shea.
Mike enjoyed many pastimes over the years including hunting, fishing, bowling, raising fish, building and collecting antique cars, being a pilot and watching Fox News. Above all else, Mike LOVED working and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be on Tuesday, May 16th 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 RT.94 in Blairstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 17th at 10:30 AM at St. Jude's Church in Blairstown. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
